After all the socialising and festivities of December, January is probably starting to feel like it will never end and that pay day is still so far away. Don’t despair! In the name of looking our most fabulous, even on a budget, we’ve put together three simple styles for you to shop that’ll look way more expensive than they actually are.

JUMPSUITS

If you’re looking for an am to pm statement piece this season, then a jumpsuit is a style for you. Jumpsuits are a great alternative to dresses in the colder months and offer both versatility and comfort. For a more casual look, try a looser fit with a lower waistline. Or if you want a more feminine feel, choose a higher, waist-cinching fit that’ll help your legs appear longer and show off your figure.

-Styling Success-

The ambition here is to look like you’ve put a lot of effort into your style with very little effort on your part. Clothes that fit well look expensive, so opt for a good cut that allows the fabric to hang on your body in the most comfortable and flattering way.

-Must-Have Materials-

Sultry fabrics always feel and look more luxurious. Velvet, for instance, has a sort of ‘je ne sais quoi’ of regal, which will work wonders for any look.

-Elevate Your Look-

What’s a jumpsuits best friend? You Got It. Some killer accent add-ons. Think chunky gold hoops, statement chokers, and cool link bracelets.

COLOUR POP

We know what you’re thinking. Brown and blue can’t possibly work together, right?! Well, forget what you thought you knew about clashing colours. This power combo has not only been trending on the catwalks- featuring in Valentino’s AW18 collection- but has also taken the fancy of many street stylists and Instagram influencers. Plus, we also think it looks chic as hell!

-Styling Success-

Conker browns meet powder blues for a luxe finish. If the influencers are anything to go by, style yours head to toe in one colour with contrasting accessories in the other. Since you are only working colours, you can really have fun with this one.

-Must-Have Materials-

Double denim, pleated skirts and fluffy pullovers. This trend calls for some whimsical fabric play!

-Elevate Your Look-

Bags. Shoes. Bags. Shoes. Shall we go on? The key to nailing this high-end look is to break up your block colouring at key intervals like your midpoint or at your base with contrasting accessories.

FUR IS FOREVER

The proof is in the title. Fur is forever. Well maybe not real fur, on our January budgets we’re referring to *cough* faux fur. There’s something undeniably chic about faux fur coat in the colder months. Sure, you could opt for a sporty puffer or a longline overcoat, but it’s not the same. From classic neutrals to animal prints, faux fur is a returning favourite that’ll inject some fun and luxurious comfort into your style.

-Styling Success-

Faux-fur gives off volumes of style all by itself- literally, volumes- so we’re not suggesting that you throw on a Cruella de Ville-style coat each time you head out. Toned-down accessories with just a bit of fabulous fluff will also add a dose of drama to any wardrobe.

-Must-Have Materials-

What’s all the fluff about? You can try short hair textures too! Create an edgier look with a faux fur collar biker jacket and get ready to hit the road.

-Elevate Your Look-

It may be cold and dreary outside, but that doesn’t mean your style should be. Take a step out of your neutral zone and opt for some brightly coloured fur pieces this season.
