Pippa Middleton and James Matthews got married at the weekend, with the whole world watching. Since the big day, May 20th, more and more details have emerged. Wanna get the inside scoop on the society wedding of the year? Read our cheat sheet below…
Pippa wore a stunning custom Giles Deacon gown. The dress featured a high neckline, corset bodice and cap sleeves all in ivory lace. Deacon in a statement said “I was thrilled to work with Pippa on her wedding dress. The bespoke silk cotton lace was hand appliqued to create an illusion of the dress having ‘no seams’. The lace bodice is embroidered with pearl detailing over an organza and tulle underskirt, which has layer upon layer to enable a floor sweeping movement. It’s a privilege to show the craftsmanship that my team produces in London and a real testament to Pippa’s support of British fashion”.
The couple were wed at St Mark’s Church in Englefield, a small village in Berkshire. The newlyweds had their reception at the Middleton’s family estate in a nearby village of Bucklebury. Models served the five-course dinner at the wedding reception, where a 140ft glass marquee was erected. The enchanted forest theme transformed the Middleton’s family home. The décor included a single malt whisky bar, a photo booth and a spitfire show.
The Duchess of Cambridge, Pippa’s sister Kate, had a starring role at the wedding. The princess marshalled her children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, and six others, into the ceremony. Guests included the Duke of Cambridge, Princess Eugenie, Spencer Matthews, Roger Federer and Prince Harry. Megan Markle attended the evening reception, not the church, and was seen being driven to the estate by Prince Harry.
