In every theatre lover’s diary, the Prithvi Theatre Festival is a busy period. And rightly so. Some of the best playwrights and artists come together to celebrate the existence of this Mumbai establishment, with acts that can convert the least theatre-inclined person into a lover of all performing arts. This year, the festival opens with Indian Ensemble’s Kaumudi, a play that explores the dynamics between an estranged father and son duo. Later in the week, it brings in a variety of performances like Neeraj Arya’s Kabir Café—a band that layers Indian poet Kabir’s verses with contemporary music—and the highlights of Rambo Circus in a theatrical act.
