You can’t miss BAD café if you manage to meander your way into the narrow Bandra lane it is located in. Over 25,000 PVC pipes synchronised on its exterior wall in a wave formation makes this futuristic structure standout amidst the heritage homes of the neighbourhood. The innovative design aesthetic flows to the interior where sunrays light up a space that features mismatched white chairs, a lounge swing, hanging lamps made of old bottles, and spoons moulded into candleholders. Mumbai’s newest lifestyle space is more than just a café. Conceptualised by siblings Bhavna and Amit Dhanani, it aims at ‘Bringing A Difference’ to the city’s fast-paced lifestyle by encouraging you to stop time and focus on the soul, body and mind.

The café on the ground floor represents soul, with a menu that blends the elements of the Dhanani duo’s life in Spain and travels around the world. So there are dishes like the Jamon Jamon Salad with lemon meringue, superfood seeds and Serano ham dressed in blue cheese; the BAD Egg Salad Sandwich that has hard-boiled quail eggs and quinoa salad; and a beetroot pancake that is served with oranges, flaked almonds and cream cheese. However, the must-try is their coffee that ranges from flat whites, to homemade Turkish blends, and Valencia’s popular café bonbon—espresso served with condensed milk.

On the first floor is the studio where Bhavna starts the day with a session of Chinese yoga. By night it turns into a space perfect to shake a leg or screen a movie. Finally on the second floor, surrounded by potted herbs, is the library and the rooftop herb garden, created for intellectual exchange.
