With the festive season in full swing, you may be looking for a look that’ll take you from the office straight to the bar.

Seems too good to be true, right? Well, you’re in luck!

‘Smart casual’ has evolved over the years to become its own dress code. The key is to maintain a clean, streamlined look that also appears effortless. We know it can be tricky to perfect this look, so we’ve compiled these 5 simple styling tips and created a boss collection of smart casual styles for you to shop so you can stay on-trend thoughout the season.

1) Understand the Occasion

A smart casual dress code for a work event will be completely different to a night out with the guys. Get your hands on a deep-toned blazer. It will offer a safety net for most occasions and elevate your shirt and chino combination to that suave-yet-cool standard.

2) Maintain a Good Colour Balance

The smart casual style calls for an unspoken semblance of order. It’s always best to keep your colour combinations minimal. As a rule of thumb, we’d suggest only two or three colours!

3) Be Smart with Layering

Jumpers and bomber jackets work well with this look and can be better utilised in the colder months. Create depth with smart layering. Grandad collars look amazing if kept visible over jumpers, contrast your longline tees with shorter coats, and remember you can never go wrong with a pullover knit!

4) Jeans Are Okay… If Worn Right!

We know what you’re thinking: blazers and jeans can be in the same dress code!? Yeah, they can, but choose wisely! If you do decide to pull on a pair of jeans, opt for simple washes and avoid ripped jeans altogether.

5) Put Your Best Foot Forward

Choosing the right footwear is key in perfecting this style. Boots and trainers work surprisingly well for this style, but avoid chunky or highly detailed kicks. Neutral colours like brown, grey, white and black will do the trick!
