When you look at the swanky restaurants, extremely high-end resorts, rows and rows of luxury boutiques, and perfectly groomed vacationers, it’s hard to believe that, barely about a 100 years ago, Miami was a swampland. Today this beachside American city has become a playground for the country’s rich and a must-visit destination for travellers from across the world. And why not, it offers the perfect combination of sun, sand, a dynamic food movement, cutting-edge art scene, and a throbbing nightlife.

On the southernmost tip of Miami Beach—the barrier island that runs along the coast of downtown Miami—South Beach reinforces all the stereotypes associated with this city. But beyond the nonstop beach life, are the swooping facades of Miami’s signature Art Deco architecture. Get an insight to this early Modernist style of construction with excellant walking tours by the Miami Design Preservation League. Start with the Colony Hotel on Ocean Drive, the oldest deco hotel on South Beach, and one of the earliest buildings to incorporate neon signs into its exterior design. Other noteworthy structures are the Carlyle, Crescent Resort, and Congress Hotel.

For a more contemporary vibe, start your day with an extended brunch at Icebox Café or The Front Porch Café. Later, swing in and out of noteworthy restaurants like Joe’s Stone Crab and Prime 112.

What to wear: Get an uptown beach look with these on-trend Spring Break denim shorts, bright pink Flying Machine T-shirt, KOOVS straw hat, and KOOVS espadrilles.

If you want to experience Miami’s art vibe, head to Wynwood Arts District. With over 70 galleries, retail stores, antique shops and eclectic cafes and bars, it’s the hub of the city’s cool youth culture. Once a quiet neighbourhood surrounded by warehouses, the space now boasts some of the most inspiring street and graffiti art. If you’re there on the second Saturday of the month, join the Art Walk. On other days, the Miami Culinary Tours' Wynwood Food & Art Tour will introduce you to Miami’s dynamic food scene, blending it with cutting-edge contemporary art, and stories of the people who helped create the world’s largest outdoor museum.

What to wear: Be creative. Pick these KOOVS patterned chinos, and pair it with a light pink polo shirt by Levi’s. Give your look the perfect finishing touches with these Griffin tassel loafers, and Pataaka vintage sunglasses.

Miami’s nightlife scene is big, busy and fancy. From the high-energy celebrity-filled clubs to bars and lounges that offer the best of live music, there’s something for everyone. Or if you want it all, be ready to head out early in the evening and return only in the wee hours of the next morning. LIV inside the Fontainebleau Hotel, with its extravagant display of LED lights, is by far one of the finest places to dance the night away. Or then there is the famous Nikki Beach with its tiki bars and cabanas. If you’re in the mood for some mixology, head to Broken Shaker, run by expert bartenders serving some craft cocktails. Spend an evening exploring the speakeasy-style spaces at Midtown and Wynwood. We recommend Wood Tavern, Bardot and Tapas y Tintos.

What to wear: You’re heading out in a city that expects you to be ready to roll. So, get party-perfect with this pair of slim-fit Solid jeans, KOOVS contrast shirt, Griffin suede loafers, and Reflex watch.
