If you’re in love with Game Of Thrones and the Night Watch’s oversized black fur coats, here’s a trend you’ll want to quickly adopt. As Milan’s designers sent out their models, we couldn’t stop noticing the overload of fur, both faux and real. From Fendi — the Roman brand known for their expertise in the use of fur — to Marni, Sunnei and Giorgio Armani, outerwear bore a softer touch this time round. Of course, in a range of hues, textures and treatments.

This season, the classic crew-neck pullover returned to take some important space in men’s wardrobes. And next winter you’ll find them more dramatic than ever. If your pullovers have mostly played a role in your day wardrobe, it’s time you gave them a big night out. Decorated with sequins (Missoni), landscape scenes (Prada), slogans (Fendi) and mixed patterns (MSGM), crew-neck pullovers will soon be the centrepieces of your style.

#Throwback to the era when men’s style was a fun collection of characterful knits, warm colours, pops of brights, shearling, and checks. Retro influences are back, and everything about them is happy, playful and cheery. Take for instance Marni’s mix of fresh blue on the vintage striped pullover, Prada’s cape collar, or Missoni’s pairing of old-school checked trousers with a pop orange cardigan. If you want to go smarter, turn towards the slick trousers and checked coat combo by No. 21, contemporised with camouflage patches and strappy buckles.

Is a single pattern just too simple and boring? Then it’s time you clashed a few together in your outfit. Take it to the next level of busy with a little inspiration from Etro — pair houndstooth with micro checks and all-over ditsy print. Or go a little subtle and smart like Marni and Missoni with stripes and checks. Sometimes just stripes in different hues can do the trick as well, as seen at Moncler Gamme Bleu.

After seasons of skinny and slim, trousers have been moving towards the wide-leg versions. Come winter and you’ll see them take on some extra volume. While tailoring brands like Giorgio Armani and Ermenegildo Zegna, known for their well-fitted suits, have given the smart trousers a new comfort shape, Moncler Gamme Blue and Marcelo Burlon County of Milan’s sportier cuffed versions are taking jog pants in a roomier direction.
